Obituary of Beverly Dawn Buzan

Beverly Dawn Buzan passed away on Friday, November 10, 2017, in Washougal, Washington. She was born on December 12, 1931, to Patrick and Viola (Kenney) Harkins in Montana Township, Kansas.  Around the age of 10, she moved with her parents and older brother, Delmar Harkins, to the Pacific Northwest, settling in Camas, Washington.  She attended school in Camas and participated in many activities, but was especially fond of her time in the Camas High School band, which marched in the Pasadena Rose Parade in 1947.  Bev graduated from Camas High School in 1949.  She met her husband, Ward Buzan, in high school and they were married on September 4, 1949, in Camas.  They have four children.

Bev was well-known in the community for her artwork. She ran her own commercial sign painting business, and taught art classes in the community, but perhaps her most-recognized works were the paintings that adorned the windows of many businesses in Camas and Washougal at Christmastime for more than twenty years. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, serving in many capacities with children, youth and adults. After Ward’s death she served a full-time LDS mission in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida, area, and served many years in the Portland Oregon Temple.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ward, and is survived by her brother, Delmar Harkins (Genielle); four children, Suzette Sommer, Connie Lockhart (Brian), Annette Feller (Dave Harris), and Michael Buzan (Julienne); 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 18, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Washougal (3920 Q St). Visitation will be at 10 am, with the service at 11 am. Burial will follow at the Camas Cemetery.
