I had the pleasure of working closely with Joe at Skyridge teaching health and fitness for several years. Additionally I was able to team teach fitness with him and be his mentor for an additional year.
What I remember most about Joe is that he was a genuinely kind and loyal person. He was a delight to work with; helpful and always willing to pitch in, attentive to the kids, and really loved being a teacher and a coach.
Joe was one definitely a member of our health and fitness team.
When Joe got the full time teaching job at Discovery and Odyssey, our team was so happy for him. He had worked so hard to get to that point. On the selfish side we all hated to see him go. But he still came back to say hi to us at least a couple times a week, every week even though he was at Odyssey and Discovery.
He was also risen to the the position of being head coach at Skyridge and winning season and a league title.
I think that I can speak not only for me, but for our entire fitness team that not a day goes by the we think of him and miss his visits.
He touched not only students and athletes lives in a positively, but also other teachers, coaches and anyone that had the pleasure of getting to know Joe.
His impact on others will never be forgotten.
sincerely,
Sherrie Crang-Geiger

Joe loved the game of football and was a big part of the success of the Camas High School program. Many student athletes benefited from his coaching. His growth as a coach began with youth football, progressed though middle and high school and culminated with being in charge of the Skyridge MS program. It was an honor to have known Joe and worked with him during those times.

Joe was such a friendly guy! Aside from goin to high school with him and playing football with him I would run into him at my kids school where he was a substitute teacher that loved his job and looked forward to becoming a full time teacher. Gone way too soon, RIP friend

I coached Joe when he was a sixth grader in CCYF. He was a willing player always ready to listen and learn. It was obvious that he loved the game from day one. I am glad that he followed his dream of being a coach. I have nothing but great memories of Joe. Best wishes to his Mom and Dad and brother Jeff. Scott Bjerke

When he worked for The City of Camas, I had the pleasure of working with him on several occasions. He was a hard worker and never complained, always had a smile and always pleasant. One thing I liked about Joe was the respect he always showed towards me. You don't find that in the younger generation much any more. I will miss him very much. What a nice young man. He did like to talk a lot and myself included. So sorry for your loss. Paul Hargrave

Joe and I were good buddies. I met him through a mutual friend and fellow coach. He subbed for a lot of us coaches before he landed his job. He was a respected and loyal friend. While Joe and I coached against each other, we worked on coaching together. We would spend the off season teaching each other, he defense me offense. He was at Skyridge and me at Liberty. We worked as one for Camas HS, he loved Camas football. We had a dream of playing in the league championship against each other to put the best foot forward for the high school football team. This year we delivered. Seems trivial now. We were Co-league Champs! Honest, true friend, grumpy Joe! Love that guy!

Joe would give you the shirt off his back if asked. The kids loved him when he would sub at Pacific and he knew the names of every single kid over the years. I will miss having breakfast with you and the time we shared talking about football and life in general. Your parents raised a hard working and generous person and I am proud to call you my brother. Hope you and Dad are up there cracking jokes and keeping each other company. Rest In Peace buddy, until we meet again.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Edwards family. I first meet Joe working at the Fern Prairie Market as teenagers. Joe and I later reconnected years later when he coached both of my Sons at Skyridge. Joe will be missed by those that knew him and a loss to our community.
