Obituary of Jeffrey James Menor
Jeffrey James Menor
June 2nd, 1959 ~ December 28th, 2023
We are devastated to announce the unexpected passing of Jeffrey James Menor on December 28th, 2023 due to heart complications.
He was surrounded by family at Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver on the night of his passing.
Jeff was a true engineer. His career in Fire Protection began after graduating from Washington State University with a Mechanical Engineering degree. He started in the industry during a time without computers or AutoCAD, which meant a lot of sharp pencils, protractors and a giant drafting table. He used his meticulous math and engineering skills to draw commercial sprinkler systems for many years.
Jeff and his wife Julie raised three children in Camas, Washington. They filled their home with every piece of sporting equipment, craft supply, and instrument their children could ever use. Jeff was his children’s biggest cheerleader and our first coach. We fondly remember him whispering, “kick their butt” during races, soccer games, lacrosse matches and even music recitals.
Jeff famously fixed everything “the right way”, while making us kids hold the flashlight.
While building his own company; Basic Fire Protection Incorporated, with his two business partners, he was also checking things off of his bucket list - the biggest item was getting his amateur racing license.
Over the years, Jeff enjoyed racing and restoring cars, collecting treasures from estate sales and showing off the pride of his collection, the royal blue 1967 Chevrolet Corvette. His children are still scared to touch the paint, “Only the handle!” they hear him say.
Jeff was part of two racing clubs; Team Continental and the Columbia River Camaro Club. His approach to driving was typically about achieving steady, incremental progress. Except for that one time he “didn’t see” the checkered flag and drove a few extra laps. Earning him a black disqualification flag.
Jeff is survived by his wife Julie Menor, daughter Lauren, sons Chase and Chad; his parents Francis and Carol Menor; his sister and brother Brenda Grandquist and James Menor; and his grandchildren Flynn, Wyatt and Nataya.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jeffrey Menor on February 24th at Grace Foursquare Church in Camas Washington from 2:00-3:00 pm.
Following the service there will be a “Meat and Cheese” reception (Jeff’s two favorite foods) from 3:00-4:00 pm at the church.
In lieu of flowers, bring your classic car (or your willingness to talk about classic cars) to the service.
