OLIVE E. MADDEN
Olive E. Madden, 95, passed away peacefully on November 21st, 2013 at home in Washougal, WA surrounded by her family. Olive was born in Corvallis, OR on September 12th, 1918 to Roy L. and Bertha I. Bartram. Olive was raised in Corvallis, OR and attended Oregon State University where she met and married the love of her life, Myrno. They lived briefly in Lonerock, OR, Seattle, WA and Portland, OR before finally settling in Washougal, WA where they raised their family.
Olive was a loving mother, grandmother and friend to many. She enjoyed living on her small farm on Mt. Norway in which her family was always close by. She was a great cook and expert pie maker. Gardening, sewing, crocheting, playing cards and caring for her many cats and dogs over the years were her passions. Her favorite family vacations included digging for clams at Long Beach, WA, visiting her relatives in Corvallis, OR and Memorial Day Family Reunions in Lonerock, OR.
Olive was a 7th degree member of Washougal Grange #69 and a 4-H leader of the Washougal Busy Beavers. She spent many hours volunteering at the Fern Prairie and Clark County Fairs. Olive is survived by her sons Daryl Madden, Ronald Madden, Sergio Battistessa AFS Exchange Student and daughter Janette Cejka; grandchildren KerryMatt Hatcher, TammieJustin Ladd, GlennTeresa Madden, and Catie, Lindy, and Collin Cejka; great grandchildren Logan, Kathryn and Grace Jacobsen, Wilson and Ian Ladd, and Westin and Wyatt Madden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bertha Bartram, husband Myrno of 58 years, eldest son Jerry, and sister, Helen Adkins.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, November 29th at 1:00 at Straub's Funeral Home in Camas followed by a reception at the Washougal Grange Hall. Graveside service will be held Saturday November 30th at 1:00 at the Lonerock Cemetery in Oregon. Donations can be made in her name to the Humane Society for Southwest Washington.
