Obituary of Dorothy Irene Hart Coleman

Dorothy Irene Hart COLEMAN Beloved mother of Anne Coleman and Mary Benson, died in Camas, WA on July 3rd. She was 79. A celebration of her life was held at the home of her daughter, Mary, in Camas on July 5th. Burial will be in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA. Dorothy was born November 9th, 1924 in Juneau, AK to J. Harold and Dorothy Canfield Hart. She graduated from Lincoln High School and St. Helen?s Hall in Portland, OR and in Communication from the University of Washington where she was Assistant to the Director of the School of Journalism. Her writing career included reporting, feature writing and editing for Mademoiselle, The Seattle PI, the Honolulu Star Bulletin, The Los Angeles Time-Mirror and the Los Angeles Herald-Examiner. She was Public Relations and Communications Director for the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center and The Braille Institute of America, Inc. in Los Angeles, CA where she made her home.. While in the U.S. Naval Reserve, she met and married Patrick Coleman who died in 1982. In addition to her twin daughters, grandson, Patrick and son-in-law, Mark Benson, Dorothy is survived by her sister, Patricia Klum, brothers, John N. and Harold C. Hart, 11 nieces and one nephew.
