MARJORIE L. DOAN
Marjorie Doan, of Camas, passed away Tuesday, June 1 at SW Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. She was 85.
Marjorie was born May 3, 1919 in Pomeroy, WA to Harry and Anna Malone where she was raised. She later moved to Pasco, WA where she worked for the telephone company. She then moved to Walla Walla and worked at the Army hospital as switchboard operator. While working at the hospital, she met Paul Doan and they were married in August of 1943 in Pomeroy. They briefly lived in Menlo Park, CA before moving back to the Walla Walla and Pomeroy area. In 1951 they moved to Camas and Marjorie worked at the National Bank of Commerce as a teller. She later went to work as the credit manager for the Sears Catalog Store in Camas. Marjorie then spent many years as a receptionist at ?The Doctor?s Office? in Camas.
Mrs. Doan was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Washougal and an excellent seamstress. She was also a good cook and loved to travel. Marjorie was also a volunteer reading tutor at LaCamas Elementary School in Camas.
She is survived by her husband, Paul at home; daughters, Kathi Schell of Camas and Nancy McKean of Camas; granddaughter, Brooke McKean of Camas; and her special companion, her dog, Miss Dee Whisper.
A memorial service will be Monday, June 7 at 1pm at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Washougal. Private inurnment will be at the Camas Cemetery. Straub?s Funeral Home & Columbia River Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
