CHARLES J. MELONE
Charles J. Melone, a Camas resident, died in Vancouver on Tuesday July 13th. He was 80. Mr. Melone was born May 31, 1924 in Parsons, Kansas to Mary Alice Keeler and Sterling Melone. He was raised in Des Moines, Iowa. After serving in the Army Air Force from 1943-45 he attended Creighton University where he got his Bachelor?s Degree. Mr. Melone became a Special Agent for the FBI in July 11, 1949. He married Stella W. Hebert on February 12, 1955 in Watertown, New York. The family lived in many places because of his work. He lived in Lake Oswego from 1975-2000 and was living there at the time of his retirement from the FBI in 1978. In March of this year they moved to Camas to be nearer to family. Charles was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas and the Retired Agents of the FBI. He loved golfing, bowling and traveling.
Mr. Melone is survived by his wife, Stella, at home in Camas; daughters Denise Collier of Orlando, Florida and Karen Mannix of Vancouver, Wash.; son Patrick Melone of San Jose, Calif.; brother Edward Melone of Anaheim, Calif. and four grandchildren.
An evening vigil service will be Sunday the 18th at 6:30PM at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas and the funeral mass will be Monday July 19th at 12 noon, also at the church.
The family suggests remembrances be made to the American Diabetes Association.
