Obituary of Freida J. Gibson

FREIDA J. GIBSON Freida Gibson, of Camas, passed away Friday, August 20 at SW Washington Medical Center in Vancouver. She was 74. Freida was born May 5, 1930 in Camas to James and Cresoula Morris. She was raised in Camas where she graduated from high school and married Robert Gibson on Feb. 1, 1951. Mrs. Gibson worked at Walters Photography and Nystrom-Peery Insurance. She later worked as an insurance clerk for LaCamas Credit Union for many years and still worked part time there. She loved to collect antiques and art and was a music lover of all kinds. She loved her family and cooking, especially Greek ethnic foods. Freida enjoyed camping, gardening and volunteered at the Camas/Washougal Historical Museum. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Portland, the Order of Eastern Star, and was on the committee for class reunions. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1987 and her father, James Morris in 1971. Survivors include her mother, Cresoula Morris of Camas; her son, Robin and his wife, Vickie of Camas; brother, Ted Morris of Camas; sisters, Helen Varkados of Portland, OR and Alex Soldano of Seattle, WA; 2 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Tuesday, August 24 at 1pm at St. John?s Presbyterian Church in Camas. Burial will be private at the Camas Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from noon to 5pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas is in charge of the arrangements.
