RALPH CHARLES HATTEN
Ralph Hatten, age 80, passed away Thursday, November 11 at his home in Washougal. He was born October 12, 1924 in Denton, MT to Roy and Cleo Noblitt Hatten. Ralph was raised in Hamburg, Iowa and after he graduated from high school he moved to Kansas City, MO and worked in a shipyard until he was old enough to join the military. Mr. Hatten joined the Navy and was stationed in Guam during WWII. In 1946 he married Joyce M. Young in Portland, OR and lived in Iowa before moving back to Portland in 1948. They later moved to Vancouver and then to Washougal in 1950. Ralph was partner and later owner of D & H Sheet Metal in Washougal. He was an avid member of the Volcano A?s a Model A club as well as an active V.F.W. Life Member. He was also a volunteer at the Two Rivers Heritage Museum in Washougal. One of his hobbies was building small motorized vehicles.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark, in 1970.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Joyce, at home; daughters, Maureen Tipton of Washougal, Rosanne Green of Seattle; sons, Randy Hatten of Washougal, Patrick Hatten of Portland; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, November 16 at 3pm at the Bethel Community Church in Washougal. Inurnment will be private at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
