Obituary of Hazel A. Ritter

HAZEL RITTER Hazel A. Ritter, age 88, died Sunday, June 5 at home in Camas, WA. She was born August 4, 1916 to John and Catherine Ball in Sarles, ND. She grew up and attended school in Sarles where her father was a farmer and then moved with her family to Longview, WA. Hazel finished school in Longview and then went to work at Longview Fiber Paper Mill. She then went to Sacramento, CA and worked for Pacific Freight Lines during WWII. She moved back to Longview and went to work for Larson Cleaners in Battleground. It was there she met Howard Ritter and they married September 20, 1948. They moved to Yakima, back to Longview, then to Cosmopolis, WA in 1957. In 1977, they made their home in Camas where she became a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Kathleen Larson and brothers, Everett and Walter Ball. She is survived by her husband, Howard, at home; daughter, Claudia Ritter of Vancouver; son, Jerry Ritter of Aberdeen, WA; grandchildren Jennifer and Keith Ritter of Aberdeen, WA and step-grandson, Jason Krens of Olympia, WA. A rosary service will be Wednesday, June 8 at 6pm at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Camas. The funeral mass will be Thursday, June 9 at 11am at St. Thomas with interment to follow at the Camas Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10am to 4:30pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas.
