Marion Cartier, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend was called home to be with the Lord October 13, 2005 in Camas, Washington.
Marion was born February 6, 1920 in Prineville, Oregon and one year later moved to Eugene, Oregon. She graduated from Eugene High School and attended the University of Oregon and Oregon State College. Then, she worked for Singer Sewing Machine Company before joining the Navy in 1942, where she was stationed at Wave Quarters ?D? in Washington, D.C. In July 1945, she married Donald Cartier. Together, they lived in Camas for 35 years until Don?s passing in 1980. Marion lived in Camas for 60 years where she was a member of Parkside Church and was involved in many community affairs. She faithfully served as a Den Mother, a host at LaCamas School, and a volunteer at Treasure House. But, gardening was her passion. For 50 years, she was a member of the Camas-Washougal Community Garden Club. Besides arranging flowers, she enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, and entertaining in her home.
She was a devoted mother of three sons, Dennis of Beaverton, Oregon, Raymond of Lansing, Michigan, and Glenn of Camas. She has six grandchildren, Michelle, Matt, Eric, Heidi, Christopher, and Olivia and one great granddaughter, Hannah.
Her celebration of life service will be held at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene at the convenience of the family. Straub?s Funeral Home, in Camas, was in charge of the arrangements.
