Obituary of Richard Allen Carroll

Richard Allen ?Dick? Carroll was born in Camas, WA on September 29, 1943 and died at home in Camas surrounded by loved ones on October 28, 2005.
Richard served in the military from 1961 to 1965 in the U.S. Air Force. He worked on his brother Dwayne?s 640-acre farm near Hermiston, OR raising and hauling alfalfa hay from 1965 to 1968. He became an electrician at what was then Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Camas, WA and served as a maintenance electrician until his retirement in December of 1998. He and his wife, Janice, first met in 1983 and were married on August 14, 1994. In recent years, Richard enjoyed prospecting and was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross including 9/11 support efforts on Ground Zero in New York

Richard is survived by his wife, Janice L. Carroll; sons, M. Scott Carroll of Brentwood, CA and Mark R. Carroll of Camas, WA; daughter, Shannon C. Briones of Tigard, OR; grandchildren, Jason, Jamie, Allison, Jade, Jayke, Jayme, Kaylee and Logan; brothers, Samuel W. Carroll, Galivants Ferry, SC and Dwayne M. Carroll, Hermiston, OR; sisters, Luella M. Roberts, The Dalles, OR and Clarice J. Stevens, Hermiston, OR.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 10 am at the Washougal Cemetery. Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, November 1, from 10 am to 3 pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross, Vancouver Chapter at 3114 E. Fourth Plain Blvd, Vancouver, W!
