Obituary of Winnifred F. Scherpf

WINNIFRED F. SCHERPF Winnifred Scherpf, age 93, passed away Thursday, November 10 in Ridgefield, WA. She was born December 14, 1911 in Bancroft, NE to Omar and Emma Fletcher. She married Otto Scherpf in Vancouver, WA on March 27, 1931 and owned a farm in Skamania County from 1944 to 2004. Mrs. Scherpf belonged to the Barbara Campbell Club, taught Sunday School at Bethel Congregational Church in Washougal and was a 4-H Leader in Skamania County. Winnifred knitted hats for newborns at SW Washington Medical Center and made quilts for family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto, in 1992. Survivors include her daughters, Dolores Hawkins and son-in-law Merlin of Ridgefield, June Hays and son-in-law Don of Washougal; sisters, Betty Gene Wellman of Portland, Donna Kay Watts of Washougal; brothers, Kenneth Duane Fletcher of Vancouver, Scotty Fritz Fletcher of Walla Walla, Omar Leigh Fletcher of Brush Prairie; grandchildren, June Elaine Doty, Robert Hensley, Jean Mackie, and Susan Cox; 5 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be Tuesday, November 15 at 1pm at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Vault interment will be private at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
