Obituary of Ronald Gifford Knapp

RONALD GIFFORD KNAPP Ron was born in Meadville, PA on April 22, 1931 to Flay Gifford Knapp and Lucy White Knapp. He graduated from Meadville High School in 1949 and joined the Air Force in 1950. Discharged in 1953, he went to Washington, DC to attend electronics school. He met and married his first wife, Olga and they had two children, Dennis Gifford and Julia Lynn. After 22 years of marriage, Olga died of leukemia in 1976. Present wife, Ruth and Ron were married in 1979 in Long Beach, CA. Ron?s work as a contract engineer took him and Ruth to many cities in the U.S. and he worked for many of the large aircraft and aerospace companies. Upon retirement, they moved to a retirement village in Vancouver, WA. Ron?s son, Dennis lives in Carlsbad, CA and has two sons. Daughter, Julia, lives in Meadville, PA and has three sons. Ruth?s son, Mark, lives in Battleground, WA and has two sons. Ruth?s daughter, Tracey, lives in Riverside, CA and has two sons and a daughter. Together, Ron and Ruth have ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ron was a people person and he had a lot of friends from his work experiences, and his family life. As a boy, baseball was his favorite sport. Later in life golf was his love. He contributed to many of his opponents pension funds. He liked to watch pro sports on TV and play poker with his friends. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the Fairway Village Clubhouse on Monday, December 5 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Private cremation was held at Columbia River Crematory with Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House at 1212 E. Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98661
