Obituary of Alfred Joseph Yott

ALFRED JOSEPH YOTT
Alfred Yott, age 63, passed away Thursday, February 2 at home in Prindle. He was born January 23, 1943 in Boston, MA where he spent his childhood. He later moved to Bennington, VT as a middle schooler. Mr. Yott enlisted in the Marines and was one of the first soldiers in Vietnam where he was a crew chief on helicopters. After he was discharged he moved back to Bennington, VT and worked for Union Carbide as a Millwright. He moved to Portland, OR where he worked as a sales manager for Chown Hardware from 1969 to 1985 and later owned his own businesses called AD Net Marketing and Western Reps. Mr. Yott is remembered by Fred Chown as a serious, conscientious, and career-minded person who exhibited a high degree of integrity and professionalism. He eventually went to work as a sales executive for Sherwin-Williams. He moved to the Prindle area 15 years ago. Mr. Yott was a former member of the Portland City Club and loved to play golf and basketball. His family was most important to him and he enjoyed spending time and having adventures with them. He is also remembered as be very quick-witted.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, at home; children, Colleen Hankins of Vancouver, Timothy Yott of Camas, Barbara Gray of Bradenton, FL, William Whitman of Bennington, VT, Susan Hebert of Bennington, VT, Rhonda Ferrucci of Moses Lake, WA; 16 grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter and 22 foster grandchildren.
A memorial service will be Thursday, February 9 at 2pm at his home in Prindle. Private cremation was held at Columbia River Crematory with Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas in charge of the arrangements.
