LELA VELMA STALCUP
Lela V. Stalcup was born June 18, 1915, the eldest of three children born to Roy and Lela Harriet Vanlandingham. Jackson Township, in Monroe County, Missouri was her birthplace.
Surviving are her two daughters, Donna Duwe of Camas, WA and the Reverend Susan E. Twidwell of Sidney, MT. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Susan Keyes of Billings, MT, Kevin A. Twidwell of Missoula, MT, Dana L. Reinikka of Vancouver, WA, Troy J. Duwe of Tempe, AZ, and Christina Milliken of Camas, WA. She had five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rufus M. Peters, second husband, Glenn Stalcup, sister, Della Dean Vanlandingham, and brother, James Madison Vanlandingham, Jr.
Velma was active as the founder and President of the Missouri Licensed Practical Nurses Assoc. She served as a nurse for Audrain Co. Medical Center on the maternity ward and as the emergency room nurse. After her official retirement from the Medical Center, she worked at Missouri Military Academy, dispensing medicines, counsel, and affection to the cadets. She moved to Washington State 9 years ago and has spent the past 2 years in Camas. She will be missed by those who loved her.
Private services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be held in Missouri. Private cremation was held at Columbia River Crematory with Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas in charge of the arrangements. To send condolences or to sign the online guest book visit www.straubsfuneralhome.com.
