Obituary of William A. Eims

William A. Eims William A. Eims, a Camas resident, died at his home Thursday July 5th. He was 76. Mr. Eims was born August 22, 1930 in Yakima, WA to Elsie Schaffer and George Eims. He served in the Army after high school and when he was discharged he attended Perry Technical Institute in Yakima. He met Gretchen Brakke in Yakima and they were married there in 1954. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Camas where he was employed at Crown Zellerbach as an Instrumentation Mechanic, eventually becoming a supervisor. He retired in the early 1990?s. William enjoyed Ham radio operating and gardening. Lately he had become involved with the Fern Prairie Modelers? Association and loved making and flying model airplanes. Mr. Eims is survived by his daughters, Debbie Gray of Washougal and Diane Padilla of Yakima as well as two grandchildren Megan & Ryan Gray, both of Washougal. He was preceded in death by his wife Gretchen in 2002. Funeral services for William Eims will be Thursday, July 12, 2007 at 1 PM at Straub?s Funeral Home in Camas. Burial will follow at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 until 5 PM at the funeral home. The family suggests remembrances in William Eims name be made to the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society, 2675 Index St., Washougal, WA 98761.
