Obituary of Roger David Daniels

Roger was born in Eugene, OR. He passed away with both daughters by his side. Roger was born to parents David and Norma Daniels. He was the middle child between his two brothers, Richard and Mike. After their mother passed in 1954, the boys moved around with family. They eventually settled in Washougal. Roger attended Washougal Schools, participated in wrestling and the musical Oklahoma. After graduating in 1968, Roger served in the Marine Corps from 1969-73, where he was on embassy duty and had coached wrestling. When he returned, he attended Clark College and then the UW where he rowed crew and obtained a BA degree in Political Science. He then moved to WA DC, to intern for Rep. Mike McCormack in 1976-77. Upon returning, Roger obtained a MA in Public Administration through PSU. During this time Roger worked as a college recruiter at Clark. His job roles evolved from director of admissions to director of athletics and recruitment. Roger then married Kim Rink in 1988. They were married for 31 years and had two daughters together. Roger eventually left Clark to be the regional marketing director for the Cascade Title Company in 2004. In 2006 he became a realtor and worked as a realtor for 17 years, until he died. He loved helping clients, teaching the history of Washougal (especially Lewis and Clark), fishing, walking, boating, watching sports (UW Huskies), helping the community, and spending time with family. He was a kind, loving, and generous father, grandfather, and community member. Roger is survived by his brother Mike, daughters Kerri and Katie, and grandchildren Dainyn and Leightyn. This loss is heavy on our hearts.

A memorial service and reception will be held at WHS auditorium on Sun June 25, 2023, at 2:00pm WHS, 1201 39th St, Washougal, WA 98671. Wearing Clark College, Washougal, Marine Corps, or UW Huskies gear/colors is encouraged.
