Harvey was the oldest cousin in the family and my earliest memories of him was when he was home on leave from the navy during WWII and he came to our house in Duluth my Dad, Earl was his uncle. It was near the 4th of July and I was pretty young born in 1938, but introduced to the war through going with my Dad to buy war bonds, helping my mom cover the windows and turn off the lights during air raids and seeing my Dad go out in his special gear as a neighborhood warden. Anyway, Harvey was very special to me in his sailor suit, and either or he or Uncle Joe who lived with us had provided fire crackers and he set them off in a stump in our front yard. Other memories are of him after the war taking a gang of his kid cousins to swim in Big Lake along with his current girlfriend - he seemed to have alot of them and they all were beautiful to me. I thought of him a great deal during the WWII memorial dedication on DC last month. If any of the family comes east, please get in touch.
Fondly,
Cousin Barbara
